How to Prevent Spam and Other Unwanted Calls

Unwanted calls from telemarketers, spam calls and automated calls can be frustrating and potentially pose a risk for fraud.

Fortunately, there are several things you can do to protect yourself from unwanted calls.

  1. Register your phone number with the National Do Not Call Registry. To do this, visit donotcall.gov.

  2. Sign up for Robocall Blocker. This feature verifies callers are human by requiring them to press a number before allowing the call to go through. Learn more about Robocall Blocker here.

Stopping Unwanted Calls on a Mobile Phone

  • See what built in features your phone has. Some mobile phones such as iPhones and Androids have call blocking features.

  • See what features your cellular carrier offers (i.e. Verizon Call Filter or AT&T Call Protect)

  • Download a call blocking app (i.e. Nomorobo, Hiya or RoboKiller)
