Site Survey Tutorial

Our online site survey tool has been designed to expedite the network building process and get you connected to our dependable fiber facilities quicker.

  1. First things first, complete the information fields pertaining to your Fiber Construction Area, yourself and street address you're wanting facilities at.
  1. Next, use the interactive map to locate your premise and draw your preferred route for the fiber drop. Utilize the following Key to better understand the mapping tools.
  1. Before starting, we recommend walking around your property and noting obstructions such as trees, decks, landscaping, buried gas lines, septic systems, underground electric cables, drain tiles, waterlines, etc. as the fiber line will be buried 18" under the ground.
  1. Keep in mind, a Network Interface Device (NID) will be installed on the building’s exterior (3'-5' above ground level), which acts as the connection point between buried facilities and premise wiring, similar to your electric meter box. Therefore, your proposed bury route needs to connect to a point on the exterior where the NID can be affixed properly and is on a wall that can be penetrated to run a wire from the NID to the ONT (typically installed in the basement or utility room).
  1. The NID cannot be located on decks or areas above concrete sidewalks where there is not green space directly below it.

  1. To locate your address, click in the Find address or place field and type in your street address, city, state and zip code. Then press Enter or click on the magnifying glass.

  1. You may need to zoom in/out or pan around the map by clicking on the map and moving your mouse to properly identify your premise.

  1. Once you've zeroed in on your address, use the draw tool to begin mapping your preferred drop route from your premise to the public road right of way.
    1. Click the draw tool to begin.

    2. Move mouse to where you'd like to begin drawing and click once.

    3. Continue moving mouse and clicking to change directions if needed until you've completed the route.

    4. Double click at the point you'd like the route to end.

  1. To edit the route, use the tools at the bottom of the map or pencil on the right side.
  1. You can also add points of direction change to the route by clicking on the gray or blue dots within the drawn route and moving them to the desired location. Click once to set the dot in the new location.
  1. To delete your route and start again, click the trash can icon on the right side of the map.

  1. After finalizing the route, complete the remaining fields of the form, submit it and you're done.
